Third Eye Blind at Musik Fest [Concert Photos]

It rained. It poured. We partied. To quote Bill Murray in Caddyshack, "I don't think the heavy stuff is gonna come down for quite a while."

But what are some soggy clothes when you get to belt some massive hits along with Third Eye Blind at Musik Fest.

I was very excited to make another return to Musik Fest this year. This festival has become my favorite. The town of Bethlehem, PA turns into a paradise for food, art, music, and entertainment from the end of July through the first week in August. The part that always amazes me: the festival is free! Tons of local talent on surrounding stages all day long. The only ticketed event is the headliner each night featured on the Wind Creek Steel Stage.

The headlining concert for August 2nd opened with a band that I stumbled upon through a Spotify shuffle. Lead by the husband and wife duo, St. Lucia was an exciting and warm welcome to start the night. Featuring hits of theirs "All Eyes On You" and "Touch," the band set the perfect pace to start the crowd moving as the sun was setting behind the towering steel stacks behind the stage.

And then came the biblical rain. About three minutes before Third Eye Blind took to the stage, torrential downpours opened which quickly divided some of the crowd. While some chose to take cover, the show audience remained full and wanting to see a great show in the pouring rain.

And a great show it was. The rain absolutely made for a better show, adding to the emotions of the songs and helping create a stage performance that looked like a music video.

Third Eye Blind, lead by frontman Stephan Jenkins, rolled through their solid catalogue of hits. From singing "Motorcycle Drive By" in the pouring rain to humming the electric guitar ending to "Jumper," it was surely a show most won't forget.

"I am taking 10 days off in Costa Rica to finish songwriting for a new album. And when it's done, we want to come back next year and play for hours," Jenkins announced to the already excited Musik Fest crowd.
